Fear of the Dentist?

Dentist Phobia Birmingham & Walsall Anxiety hypnosis The Nexus Team Being phobic of the dentist is the number one phobia alongside public speaking. The technical name is also called dental phobia, odontophobia, dentophobia, dentist phobia, and dental anxiety. It has been calculated that around 60% of people are afraid of the dentist. This includes panic attacks to mild anxiety.

Symptom and Causes…

Fear of the dentist can cover a wide area, ranging from the thought of a visit to the dentist, the sounds of the drill and other dental noises, the clinical smell when you walk in, the sight of the staff walking around in their dental uniform. There are also the fears of people with fear of chocking or waking up from dental surgery and of course any previous bad experiences in the past. A visit may only happen in extreme emergencies because of pain etc, because your phobia is so bad…

What Can Help?

There are dentists who are phobic friendly and will support you throughout your visit, you can also request when visiting a dentist to have no procedure performed.
Aversion therapy can help, as you could visit the waiting room several time prior to your treatment. A helpful dentist might allow you to sit in the dental chair for a few minutes, this will help you get used to the surroundings as you familiarise yourself. More often than not, we just go in and walk out again, with this on our mind and other senses being overwhelmed, this can be too much for you to handle and this is one of the reasons we have a panic attack.

Other Self Help.

If you’re not generally an anxious person then you’re probably more likely to have a better rate of success with little outside help. If you’re a more nervous person, then you will require more intensive therapy to help. This can range from self help to visiting a therapist. You can start with calm breathing exercises, gentle meditation to help keep you calm, using visualisation and seeing yourself being relaxed from the waiting room and into the dentist chair.

What To Do Next.

A visit a therapist in your area can be a smart move as hypnosis can plant the seeds in your mind of being in control when you have to visit the dentist. The positive outcome can lower your stress and help make you feel relaxed. Sessions are different for each individual because of the reason you have developed this phobia and this can impact on the amount of sessions required, but really shouldn’t take more than 3 therapy sessions to get you to be able to visit the dentist comfortably.

The Nexus Team from Anxiety Hypnosis is here to help and offer practical advise by helping the people of Birmingham, Walsall and the Midlands to make a relaxing visit to their dentist.
So I hope this has given you tips and advice ranging from a good helpful dentist to helping yourself and paying a visit to a professional therapist who can give you a more in-depth personal one-to-one treatment.

THE FEAR OF FLYING AND HOW TO CONQUER IT!

Anxiety hypnosis on fear of flying with The Nexus Team

The Fear of Flying.

One of the most common fears in our modern society is the fear of flying, or as it is more commonly known, aviophobia. It is probably more common than you think, with up to 1 in 5 people suffering from the symptoms. For some sufferers it is the directly linked to the fear of flying and for others it can come from the fear of heights, or from the fear of confined spaces.
This phobia is often one of the most common fears and also the most inconvenient as travelling by air is often impossible to avoid, especially in a professional or business setting. Not only could this phobia prevent you from enjoying a family holiday or vacation, but in extreme cases it may even hinder your career path or advancement if you are required to travel frequently in the work related arena.
Deep down, we all know that travelling by plane is statistically the safest way to travel but for some, the fear that comes with boarding a plane is unbearable and can ultimately spoil your business trip or quality family time.

Common Symptoms.

Symptoms of aviaphobia normally arise in two different situations; flight and pre-flight.
Flight – these symptoms are perhaps more common and occur either during a flight or shortly before take-off. The symptoms are usually the onset of a panic attack and sometimes vomiting.
Pre-Flight – these symptoms can often arise a few days or even weeks before an upcoming flight and are usually brought on by the thought of having to travel by aeroplane. The symptoms are anxiety attacks and often stress related distress.

What can I do to overcome and manage my fear of flying?

Overcoming and managing your fears are two very different things; simply managing your fear of flying is not a long term solution and still leaves you wondering if the fear will take over again at any time. The most successful, easiest and long-term solution for completely overcoming your fear is to use anxiety hypnosis.
Myself and my highly skilled hypnotherapy team at The Nexus Team Hypnotherapy are leading experts in our field and have been helping clients from Birmingham, Walsall and the surrounding areas, overcome their flying phobias for many years, all in a safe and comfortable environment.

What can I do next?

If you are currently suffering from flight related anxiety or anxiety attacks and it is preventing you from travelling by plane for business, leisure or for a well-deserved family break, then contact me at The Nexus Team Hypnotherapy today. With my help, you can take control of your travel plans again and overcome your flying phobia once and for all.

As with any external stress due to worrying, this can lead to an unnatural amount of fear and this can lead to an over reaction and then to a full blown panic attack. If you should suffer the most extreme of these then it can be life threatening as you are out of control and if in a plane, you will want to get out of there no matter what and you may well go and open the cabin doors at 30,000 ft.

So my advice would be to see me for help and don’t let fears control your life. As with many people I have treated in the Birmingham, Walsall and indeed around the world you can overcome this.

Are the Minds of Birmingham Set In Stone?

Anxiety Hypnosis The Nexus Team Birmingham Walsall Most people who want to change because of bad experiences will always put up a block and think they can’t change. But this is just a mental illusion and you can if you really want it!

Think of it like this, you made the decision and so you believe it must be true and this is why you think you cannot move on.

The other reason is if an authoritarian figure told you that you couldn’t do things and you believed them.

No it’s not a Rhubarb Crumble.

I want to help you see the BIG picture by looking at nature and noticing that everything in life breaks down, crumbles, changes or alters its shape. Have you ever noticed how a tree will grow around a fence that it is up against, or barbed wire running through the centre of the tree.

It looks like nothing is moving, if you could capture on film the slow movement of a tree growing over 50 years and then watch that movie it would last 30 seconds. You would see how the tree grew around the fence. Even though we all know wood is hard.

Another example would be how as you get older you can be more tolerant, such as grandparents being tolerant of their grandchildren and they may not have been the same with their own children.

Stop the Dancing…

So here is my tip on being relaxed about stress and anxiety and all the other problems people have to realise that in the end you will probably be relaxed after the event. So why do a big song and dance by getting yourself all worked up for nothing. All you have to do is keep calm. …How you might ask?

Well like anything in life, it’s not always easy to begin with and you will have to practice and once your mind knows that you’re in charge, it will stop having anger, stress, anxiety and fears as your main default setting. You will be really proud of the fact that you kept your cool, patience, and stayed calm throughout.

So when you feel that anger etc building up inside you, you have to learn to be patient. Soon you will know that you are more tolerant and know that life isn’t worth the hassle of getting all worked up, because at the end of the day we never get out of this life alive.

Anxiety Hypnosis Helps you Grow-Up!

So in other words stay calm, grow-up, face your challenges, don’t be afraid and success will be yours to enjoy and being hot-headed never really got you anywhere, did it?

I know that in the West Midlands, Birmingham and Walsall and the rest of the country people are fighting internal battles and it doesn’t have to be like that. The Nexus Team at Anxiety Hypnosis is here to answer any questions you have concerning anxiety and what I call all its ugly cousins such as fear etc.

Remember if you don’t want to have those thoughts set in stone any longer, you can contact me for a free complimentary consultation. Good luck from The Nexus Team at Anxiety Hypnosis.

Anxiety hypnosis moaning medal

A German giving out medals?

A German man once told me how the British public could get a medal for moaning, He was a manager in the UK, although he had worked around the world, but he said how bad the moaning was in this country. I must admit the way he was telling me in his very good but German twang of English was a bit like a sketch from Faulty Towers. But I had to agree that ‘Yes’ we could beat anyone at moaning

It is amazing how we can moan and moan about nothing. If you think about this and be truthful that we do moan as a British nation all the time, from the weather to everything else, as well as everything in between…

I presume this is why we have so many negative thoughts, fears and anxiety running through our brains all the time. Let’s face it,’ you become what you think’, it’s certainly not just the saying ‘you become what you eat.’ So it would make perfect sense to be highly strung, tense, with a dose of anxiousness thrown into the mix that people are ready to jump down the throats of other people if they should say anything disagreeing with a moaner.

Have you ever asked someone how they are, because you’re being polite and then they tell you how they got on at the doctors and bloody hell do they moan about what is the matter with them? I’m sure that these people have a PhD in whining.

The Vampire.

Notice how when these people walk away from you that you feel drained as they have sucked all your good energy out of you and now you’re left in a state and they walk away feeling better. These people are vampires of sucking good energy from people.

Certainly in the Birmingham area, many brummies have the wow factor in a good old moan. If you’re not careful the positive energy can be easily drawn out of you. This can be particularly bad if you’re not feeling very well to begin with. You may be one of those people where others always bring you their problems and dump them on you. Now how do you feel when they’ve gone??

Who Cares?

I know we can all get stressed and we’re all busy and we all have things to do and no time in which to do them in. But let’s face facts that the person you’re telling your problem to doesn’t really care. In fact as a nation, 70% don’t care and the rest are glad it’s happening to you and not them.
If you are one of life’s vampires then you are not helping yourself as you are poisoning your system. Imagine that it’s like you have been hypnotized to act really negative, in other words it seems you have made a very deep ruin of your life.

Having the same way of thinking and wanting a different outcome won’t happen, you have to change and I am here to help you if you wish.

But firstly it would be good to have a word with yourself to say enough’s, enough’s and you are going to change for the better. You will have to be brave and create new disciplines via order and structure to get the most out of you and your thinking.

Anxiety Hypnosis Can Help you!

You probably can feel tension in your body and maybe more in your shoulders and back. Then you need to take some time out and start to relax more. Usually the first time you do this, the pain of relaxing gets worse and this is a natural effect. But just go through that little pain barrier and you’ll come to the feeling of being relaxed. Give this ago. This way you will start to let go of anxiety and tension. Imaging all the people of Birmingham relaxing, then this would spread around the UK. …Ahhh what a great feeling that would be for everyone.

The Nexus Team Anxiety Hypnosis is here to find out how you have conquered your anxiety and tension or any other related problem and lets spread the knowledge to others. The Nexus Team Anxiety Hypnosis Birmingham and Walsall

Your mind is playing with you.

Fear is the illusion of thought, do we live in a world full of illusions. Anxiety is an illusion but we’re connected to the fear and anxiousness all the time that we believe in it so much. That for some people it’s a constant threat on their mind and health.
What do I mean by the illusion? Have you ever been out walking and you see a dead cat lying in the road, when you get closer it’s a screwed up black plastic bag, yet just a few steps away, you believed that it was a dead cat.

Anxiety is an a illusion by The Nexus Team Anxiety HypnosisI know of someone who told me that one night they were walking down the road and they saw a settee in the middle of the road. When they got closer, it was the shading on the tarmac. The street lighting had made it a 3D image. It’s all an illusion and I’m sure you will have had your own experiences.
What colour is it?

How many times have you said that a colour is purple for example and someone else sees it as different shade and so on. And you cannot see how they can say it is the colour they think it is compared to your colour. Not so long ago we had the Optical illusion: Dress colour debate goes global. This was a dress that was seen as gold and white, blue and white, blue and blue or blue and black. It’s all an illusion.

Fact! There is no fear.

Anxiety, fear and stress are illusions and so believable that it’s hard not to believe in anything else. Also if you made the decision to state that you are anxious or have a fear of flying then that means you have been lying to yourself for a very long time. You may not want to own up to the fact that this isn’t true, so you created the lie and believed in it. In Birmingham I see many people who have suffered these exact same symptoms. So at Anxiety Hypnosis we use many tools to help people just like you to break their belief system and live an Anxiety free life. This works whether you live in Birmingham or in the rest of the country.

Tool kit thinking.

1) Stop trying to make sense of your anxiety.
2) Don’t judge anything to do with anxiety.
3) Don’t give any anxious thoughts any recognition.
4) Just for today, stand up to yourself and be fearless.
5) Chose a relaxing colour – now mentally paint your world that colour.

I realise that life can be hard and challenging, but you have to live a full healthy life and I can help you overcome your illusions of stress, anxiety, and fears.

Active thinking with Anxiety Hypnosis by The Nexus TeamIt’s not always to do with what you thought…

Having an anxious moment in your day-to-day life can be bad enough, but it may not be the cause of your anxiety or stress…

Do you get anxious most of the time that leads to stress and feeling angry?

Well here’s a tip to help you combat these feelings all the time no matter what’s going on around you.

Think of it like this; see if you can implement this into your new way of thinking because if you’re always going to react in the same way, you’ll always get the same result.

Pressure, Pressure, Pressure…

Imagine the 4 wheels on a car, on the wheels you have 4 tyres and they need to be inflated to their optimum pressure. Too little pressure and the tyre will wear down and the car will drive unevenly or pull over to one side when you brake.

Over inflate the tyres with too much pressure and you create another problem. This is the same as people at work or in a relationship either not pulling their weight or the person getting over stressed with too much to do!

So whatever you’re doing, check to notice if the pressure in your mental thinking is at the optimum pressure to function at your best. Because if you have a problem at work and think it’s to do with work, when in actual fact it was an incident going to work that caused it.

Check list tips:

1) How is my relationship, have you kissed each other and done your own thing knowing that you left each other feeling happy.
2) Do you slack at work or do you know that you can work better as this will lead to a promotion or do you get away with the bare minimum.
3) How well do you take care of yourself, whether this is eating right or having the right hobby or activity to do? Maybe you need something to break the monotony of every day to day grind and help make you feel part of something. Or the reverse is that you are out too much and it’s impacting on the relationship.
4) Last but not least, what is yourself talking like? Is it positive and a self fulfilling prophecy of accomplishing tasks. Or one that is on a self destructive pattern of bad behaviour and constantly whines…

Get in touch today.

So I hope this helps and you’ll have 4 mental tyres inflated just right, give it ago and let me know how you get on.

If you would like to find out if I can help with any fears or anxiety problems, please let me know by dropping me a message.

You can download my free Axe-anxiety E-guide to help you in the meantime. Also you can send me a personal message of how you overcame certain difficulties in your life, such as fears and phobias and stress and I can share these to help others.

Kids get stressed too you know…

Anxiety hypnosis helping anxious children. two young girls laughing behind another girls back.

Anxiety hypnosis helping anxious children.

Where does all the stress we have come from and more in particular the stress in children. Children have a real hard time, think about it, I mean they have to fit in with their peers and so much has to be right. From the colour of their hair to brand named clothes if it’s a non uniform school. Also their smell, spots, wearing glasses, overweight or too skinny and the area they come from and how they fit into the cliques at school. Also how well they do in sports and games, which they support and the video games and programmes they watch. And at puberty you have the hormones and sexual orientation. More so now than ever before as there is social media from Facebook and twitter the whole event of school is relentless on them, teachers to performance of homework and exams.

No wonder kids are as good as they are, because they now have to deal with grumpy parents to even beatings or sexual abuse. Or belonging to one parent families, or a parent who has multiple partners.

But some of this can be avoided if we only spoke to children in a positive way and this in turn would make you feel better and because of the positive talking you then feel more positive in yourself.

How not to talk to kids.

Here’s an example of how parents, grandparents etc talk to kids. “don’t fall, be careful you’ll slip, you’ll hurt yourself, don’t run you’ll fall and hurt yourself, eat all your food, don’t be wasteful, you should know better, don’t spill it, you’ve made a mess now, I’m going to smack you, I’m watching you, you could do better, shut-up, keep still, don’t move, you’re a naughty child, people won’t like you. as well as the swearing and shouting involved. You may know of others, but this is just a quick example and depending on the person saying these whether teachers, parents, and other family members, the tonality can be destructive if said in a harsh negative tone of voice.

Xbox doesn’t have a problem!

Here are some tips on how to inspire and help your child in positive language and they are really simple: Tonality of your voice is key, and keep it light, by that I mean if you call a dog towards you in a harsh manner, …get here NOW! The dog is reluctant to come to you, but if you keep a higher tone as if you’re calling a dog to have some food from you, you know your tone is different. This has to be the same with kids. Say when they are running , tell them that they are doing really well and pick you your legs as you run, … Well done I knew you could do it! Or when they have a glass full of juice, …you’re the best at keeping all that juice in the glass. Also say well done to them. Tell them that you know they know loads more about something than you do, and get them to show you. If a child fidgets, have ago at getting them to dance. You may well say to me that they won’t keep still, but I guess the xbox doesn’t have a problem in getting their attention. Above everything, interact with your child, go out and play and be a big kid yourself. So stay positive and good luck and remember your kid is having just as hard time as you are, and they don’t always have the adult mind to express themselves with the proper language skill that the grownups have.

Is insomnia sending you MAD?

Anxiety Hypnosis by The Nexus Team helping Insomniacs

Matchsticks keeping your eyes open today?

People suffering from lack of sleep can and does have a major effect on that person’s wellbeing and health. Any form of not going to sleep at the right time will continue to have a negative spiraling effect.

If you have insomnia then you don’t need me to tell you what you’re going through. As you know this can be down to an over active anxious mind that finds it hard to switch off. Or a mind that is always searching for something in your life. It has been done for many years and the mind finds it easy to think in a negative way.

Dead at the wheel.

Think like this for a moment ,the part of the mind and body will go to sleep and it is a very selfish part of you that has no control over stopping it. If your mind wants to sleep it will and it doesn’t matter or care what you are doing. How many people drop off to sleep at the wheel while driving, there are many signs on the motorways to tell drivers to pull over and take a break.

Trick of the light…

Generally people watch TV or get onto their computer whilst in bed and this is the wrong thing to do if you’re an insomniac. There is a blue light on a computer screen and this light is similar to a morning blue light as we see in the real world. If you’re staring at your computer when you have to sleep, then your brain is being tricked in thinking that its morning. You know it’s time to sleep and of course it’s dark out, however the brain says its morning and this releases chemicals to the body to be active by staying awake.

Sleeping tips.

1) Avoid watching TV and looking at computers, mobiles at least 2 hours or more before bedtime.
2) Avoid any sleep in the day no matter how quick that nap is.
3) Create by preparing to a deep slumber of sleep with clean fresh bedding.
4) Take a warm bath with essential oils such as lavender.
5) Create a bedroom that only is set up for relaxing sleep and is a tranquil space.
6) Make sure your mind is settled and don’t go to bed worrying as this doesn’t achieve anything.
7) 400 and start to count down very slowly and see the numbers disappear before you say the next one in your head.
8) While relaxing you can imagine saying to each body part to go to sleep, (night-night feet and go to sleep and do this thought is a soft and gentle way that is like a gentle lullaby and with any luck before you get much further you’ll be well on your way to the land of nod…
9) Try not to toss and turn and to keep still, the more still you are will induce a sleep habit, keep still for at least 15 mins and resist the urge to move and as that passes you’ll be well on your way to sleep.
10) Last but not least, check that if you’re on medication this is not interfering with your sleep. Also be mindful of what you have eaten or the lateness you eat, notice if types of food or drink have a negative effect on your sleeping.

Turn your thoughts around with The Nexus Team

It’s all in the blood!

Anxiety that you go through on a daily basis can really make you tired mainly because of the constant high adrenalin hormone surging around your blood stream. If this stays high for too long you can do some serious damage to your body. It begins to have an effect on your kidneys, liver and thyroid to say the least. This will affect your immunity and ill health seems to be a part of everyday existence. The reason for the adrenalin is to give you strength so if you have to fight you won’t feel much pain or you can easily scale a 7ft wall with ease. However you don’t act the same when it has worn off.

We get used to the drip, drip, drip effect of the adrenalin until you can’t feel it and of course you never act on the drip effects of the adrenalin. But it is damaging your body and may take many years and all because the thoughts that you have create this, and this is why I say it’s all in your head as this is how it starts!

My tip would be practice patience every moment you can whether in a traffic jam or you’re starting to feel angry, or you’re thinking in the future of a bad event that might occur, then you need to stop that by thinking of what good thing may come of that situation.

Under new management.

Hopefully you can see how it is important that you manage your stress levels by you becoming in control of your thoughts. When you recognize your stress level, instead of reacting as you have done in the past for many years. Recognize how and what you would normally have done. Now stop any further action by acting on keeping calm. It may feel strange to begin with but your brain has to make new calmer connections so that in the future you will naturally stay much calmer.

Your mind needs to have a good manager or captain at the helm so to speak. Just like car headlights only light up a small portion of the road in front of you, that is all you have to do with your thoughts.
The mind has a tendency to wonder if not kept in check, particularly if you have always worried. If you want change then you have to do things that you have never done before in order to get what you have never had. Who would do the same negative thinking and expect a positive result, that’s crazy!

So at Anxiety Hypnosis we strive to offer the best way forward for you to beat anxiety, worry, stress, fear, depression and so on, you can even download our free E-guide on tip to help beat anxiety. So don’t feel alone, knowing help is here. www.anxiety.ez1car.com

In summing up

Be mindful of your thoughts, no matter how bad things have been in the past, you know that you have always survived them and you will continue to survive and in essence thrive when you have the right mindset. True potential lies with your thoughts and even if you cannot do all that is required with good positive thinking, it will come eventually. Think of it like this, if you go to a gym you don’t expect to get fit or have muscles on the first day, or learn to play an instrument , you cannot master that either in one session. This is the same with positive thinking, don’t just try it for a few days and then say it isn’t working. Do your positive thinking everyday no matter how trying things become. Eventually you will be the master of your own domain and you will feel joyful and positive when you want to. Life has a plan and you won’t beat it so just enjoy the ride it gives you… Remember to contact me by letting me know how you’re coping, much better than before?
